Mission System Engineer (m/f/x)
Build what flies. Shape what matters. The CA-1 Europa is being built right now- not in a decade. Join us to engineer Europe's first autonomous combat aircraft. Apply today.
Grob Aircraft has been designing and building aircraft in Bavaria for decades - from trainers and composite airframes to some of the most advanced aeronautical structures in the world. Engineering excellence and precision manufacturing are what we do.
Together with Helsing, our mother company and Europe's leading defence AI company, we are now taking on our most ambitious programme yet: the CA-1 Europa, Europe's first AI combat aircraft. This is not a study or a roadmap. We are designing, building, and testing - right now, right here.
We are a hands-on team of engineers who build things that fly. We take pride in short paths from idea to prototype, in solving hard problems pragmatically, and in seeing our work take to the sky. We are looking for people who think the same way - and who understand that this work matters for the security and sovereignty of Europe.
The Role
You will develop and integrate the mission systems that give the CA-1 Europa its ability to see, communicate, and operate autonomously. Your work will go from the lab bench to the flight line.
Concretely, that means:
Developing and integrating ISR systems - EO/IR sensors, radar, data links, and mission computers.
Designing airborne and ground system architectures that work under real operational conditions.
Running lab, ground, and flight tests until the systems perform flawlessly.
Ensuring real-time data flow between aircraft and ground stations is fast and reliable.
Keeping everything compliant with aviation safety and regulatory standards.
Getting your hands dirty troubleshooting hardware and software issues — in the lab and on the ramp.
What You Bring
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
Experience with aviation systems, avionics, or software-based mission systems.
Strong problem-solving skills in both development and operational settings.
A preference for doing over discussing.
Bonus: familiarity with systems engineering, avionics standards (DO-178C, DO-254, MIL-STD), or certification processes.
What We Offer
Your systems will fly on real aircraft. Direct collaboration with Helsing's AI and autonomy teams.
40-hour work week, flexitime, 30 vacation days.
Company pension plan, accident insurance, disability insurance subsidy.
Fly the Grob G115 in your free time (PPL holders) and access to the Grob flight simulator.
Subsidised lunch, EGYM Wellpass, corporate benefits platform.
Short decision paths, open leadership, no unnecessary bureaucracy.
